It's Still Good To Be Original

It's Still Good To Be Original

The industry is not full of copycats. Contrary to popular belief, record labels and A&R’s are not looking for anybody that sounds like anybody else. Originality is still what sells. It is still in high demand from us, the consumer, therefore, to generate maximum sales, you wanna sell what your customer wants.

Now, that being said, what you will hear is that someone has the same feel or flavor of someone else. “He kinda sounds like Stevie Wonder.” might be heard, and out of context, this might seem like that person is interested because he sounds like mr. Wonder. However, this is simply a complement and an attempt by a person to explain the feeling or style of an artist, and NOT an actual comparison.

Bottom line is this, do your art, from your heart. Don’t be afraid to take chances with your art and do the original things that come into your head. All the greats have done just that, honed their craft, trusted themselves, believed in themselves, and truely kept it original.
Don’t ever stop, Power to you!
